Transform Your Look: A Mommy Makeover with Hair Extensions

Once her color was corrected, we chose Veila pull-thru hair extensions which are the gentlest hair extensions in Boston on natural hair.  Since her hair was damaged, we decided that the pull-thru method would not cause undue stress to her hair follicles, and help her hair to grow healthy.  We mixed 3 shades, a chocolate brown to match her base color, and color 4/12  a rich brown with ash highlights, which accentuated her new highlights.  Two packs of Veila extensions were applied, and then the fun begins, I am being facetious, the "fun" means blending her own hair into the hair extensions.  

1). We determined her desired length, which was just below her bra line, at any time we can cut the length, but we prefer to initially leave the extensions a bit on the long side.

2). Layers were created with a "feather razor" which carefully skims the ends of the hair extensions without cutting too deep.  The layers must blend from her natural hair to the ends of the hair extensions paying extra attention to create a soft and natural blend.

3). The intent of her style was natural loose waves which were done with a 1.25" curling iron barrel.  Her hair can also be worn straight with no visible lines of demarcation between her own hair and the hair extensions.

Her eyes filled with tears as she looked in the mirror, her makeover was what she needed to pamper herself.  It is amazing what hair can do for your self-esteem and overall look.  The most enjoyable part of her appointment was getting to know her, and appreciating how hard she has to work to raise her family alone.
