Why Other Attachment Methods Fail

Over the years, I have witnessed several ways that hair toppers are attached. I am not a fan of the below techniques because they destroy existing hair and are very uncomfortable:

1. Glue-Down System

A glue-down system works best on someone who is completely bald, but many people still have sparse hair from diffuse alopecia. Maintaining this attachment is difficult since the glue hardens and releases the topper. Removal is painful, and after several glue-downs, remaining hair may be non-existent.

2. Partial Glue-Down

The perimeter of the hair is shaved across the head from temple to temple, and the topper is glued to the shaven area. Consistent shaving and gluing damages hair follicles. Additionally, clients can never go without the topper since they must wait for shaven hair to grow back - which may not happen.

3. Velcro Glue-Down

Velcro is taped onto the hair in various areas, with the other side taped onto the topper. This is one of the most uncomfortable attachment processes - the velcro is stiff, pulls on hair, offers no flexibility, and removes natural hair when taken off.

4. Tape-Down

Tape used on areas where hair is vacant isn't necessarily bad, but tape should never be attached to natural hair. It's not strong enough to support the topper's weight, is difficult to remove, and pulls out natural hair.
