We work with the finest quality human hair systems, and we will explain our treatment plan.

In a world filled with a sea of hair toppers, many with hair loss are lost as to how to match their exact color and texture. Additionally, there is confusion between human hair, synthetic hair, hair density, length, and quality. At Noelle Salon, we stock virgin (one-donor) hair toppers, the toppers are made of hair that can receive "some" chemical processes. It is essential not to bleach a hair topper, especially if the origin and quality are unknown. Our toppers come with traceable origins, but I still encourage strand testing before performing a chemical service.

When it comes to "salt & pepper" hair color toppers, keep in mind, that the grey color may be made of synthetic hair. It is quite common for manufacturers to use synthetic hair in place of human hair when adding the "salt" color. The description of the topper should be clear and concise, but in order to test it, use a 450-degree flat iron on a few strands of the grey color. If it sings or curls up in any way, it is most likely synthetic hair, and will not respond to chemical processes.

A new client with curly (4c) textured hair in a salt and pepper color, desired a hair topper to cover hair loss at the front and crown of her head. We had the exact color match in stock, but not the 4c curl. She did not want to relax her hair to match the topper, therefore, we needed to permanently curl the topper in order to match her texture. Before proceeding to a chemical permanent curl, I tested a portion of the hair with perm solution. I waited the full processing time, and rinsed out the test section, the hair was fully intact and the quality remained beautiful.

I then placed the hair topper on a mannequin head and performed a perm with a gentle perm solution by Paul Mitchell. After 20 minutes, I unraveled a perm rod to ensure the wave pattern. I let the perm process an additional 10 minutes, rinsed it out for over 5 minutes, blotted dry, and generously saturated the perm rods with the accompanying neutralizing solution. After 10 minutes, I removed the rods, checked the curl, and rinsed the entire topper for another 10 minutes.

The high-quality hair topper allowed me to create a healthy curl that matched the client's hair very well. Did I mention that the client is a member of the LGBTQ community? She wanted a new look but did not want to stray from her natural color and texture. Her wife was supportive of her transition and helped us determine her new look.

We then carefully applied the topper with a beaded matrix; no glue, sewing, or tension. The hair topper was carefully blended into her own hair, she no longer needs a wig! A wig would cover her entire head, looks unnatural, and may prevent future hair growth. A hair topper is the perfect solution for those who have their own hair, and only need coverage at the top, sides, and crown of the head.

We stock a variety of cap sizes, cap construction, hair density, and length to suit our client's individual needs. Customization is a major part of creating a natural look, customizing color, texture, cutting/blending, and styling!

At the end of her appointment, our client was gleaming with happiness. We attached the topper, and it will stay on for a month and will be serviced accordingly. Some of our LGBTQ clients live part-time as a female, therefore, we use the clip-in process. The clip-in process allows them to take the topper on and off at their leisure.
