Hybrid Hair Extension Application Technique

Hybrid Hair Extension Application Technique

Create the perfect hair extension application by using the "hybrid extension technique" The hybrid technique mixes two or more hair extension methods to give not only a long and voluminous style but will maintain the health of clients' hair.  We tend to mix extension methods on people with fine to medium hair density, especially areas of the head where extensions may be visible.  Where are those areas? The sides of the hair, the crown of the head, and the nape of the neck.  The hybrid technique works very well on clients with small-sized heads where you are working with limited space to apply for hair extensions or larger heads where more hair extensions are necessary to cover the area.

For Fine Hair

In the below picture, we used i-tip individual strand hair extensions to the sides of the head with low follicle hair density and the new genius weft sew-in hair extensions across the head from ear to ear. Our clients' hair had very weak sides which could not support the genius wefts. Very rarely do we ever use one type of hair extension per person since hair follicle density varies drastically throughout the head.   Individual strand extensions such as; keratin bonded are great for low-density areas as well.

Hybrid Technique Hair Extensions

Medium Density Hair

Veila pull-thru hair extensions which offer larger and smaller size pieces work well, especially when using the smaller size for the sides, larger size for the middle of the head (Veila offers lots of hair per square inch), we then mix individual strand hair extensions closer to the hair part and nape of the neck.  If you work well with tape hair extensions, you can use them in place of the pull-thru methods in the same area of the head.

Thick Hair

Thick hair can use all types of hair extensions. but if you have a sensitive head, you may love the hybrid technique.

Conclusion

It is important to seek a hair salon that offers many types of hair extensions since they are not one-size-fits-all.  The perfect application will lead to a fabulous extension experience as well as keeping your own hair healthy.  Tension and adding too many hair extensions can lead to damaging hair follicles.  The damage does not happen overnight, therefore, being proactive by using the suggested hybrid mix will prevent damage.

There are other factors at play such as taking care of your hair extensions at home and using the proper products to keep them moisturized.  Brushing is imperative, using a wet brush combined with a boar bristle brush will render the best result. A wet brush is a great way to detangle hair and a natural boar brush will help to distribute your natural oils.  Your own natural oil works best to keep your hair extensions supple and tangle-free.
