What is a popular hair extension color? Cowboy Copper
We not only specialize in hair extensions but hair color too! As we welcome in fall 2023, our clients are asking for copper-based reds. This copper color is far more natural looking than years before, it is more like a natural red heads "ginger" hair color. The trend of natural colors is becoming very popular, another color that is a big hit is chocolate brown! There is still a place for fashion colors like purple, blues, and vibrant colors. Our blondes are leaning more buttery in color versus platinum, and black hair is softening to cool brown.
I believe in color dimension, mixing hues creates the most natural-looking and effortless hair color. The balayage technique helps us to create tone-on-tone highlights, and exposed darker roots are still in demand.
As a hair extension specialist and vendor, I am stocking up on natural colors, particularly natural copper red! Autumn tends to make us feel more cozy, and homey, and hair color trends are following this sentiment.
The copper color is a mix of gold and orange -- in our Goldwell color line, we use color in different levels followed by color coding "K," or "KG." Many color lines have some fabulous copper golds and amazing glaze colors to tone lighter strands.
Red colors come in a variety of hues, and I often glaze hair extensions to achieve the perfect match. I never use high-lift hair color, or bleach on hair extensions. When coloring hair and matching hair extensions, I do not use the same color formula for my clients' natural hair, especially if they have grey hair. Be gentle when coloring hair extensions; 1) wash the hair extensions 2) towel dry 3) then apply color 4) watch the color processing since extensions may react to color quicker than natural hair. When in doubt, strand test a piece of the hair extensions before applying color to them.
I throw away the adage that only fair-skinned people can wear copper hair, golden copper looks great on almost all skin tones. Copper gold does warm up the skin, so make-up changes may be necessary. Lipstick can be fun too, many of our copper-tone clients love bright pink lipstick, so you can freestyle your lip color to whatever works for you! And your wardrobe? Leave it alone, test out different shades, even red! Of course, jewel tones such as emerald green, cobalt blue, and purples look great, but natural tones do too.
The downside of copper hair? It fades quicker than other hair colors, therefore, use a sulfate-free shampoo, and color-sealing hair conditioner. I suggest washing your hair with look warm water, and Pureology Color Fanatic Color Sealer twice a week.
Not sure what color is for you? You can try a hair color-changing app like Facetune, but trying on a wig is the best way to really know if you like the shade. Hair color is a commitment, so major changes take contemplation, and maybe the advice of a loved one.
Consult with your hair colorist, we can tell you what it will take to achieve a hair color, and upkeep, and we can make alternative suggestions.
