How Are Noelle Salon’s Hair Toppers Applied?
Noelle Salon has been working with hair toppers for hair loss for nearly 20 years. I have created the perfect hair topper design. Our hair toppers are affixed with a microbead matrix that does not require gluing or sewing. Gluing and sewing lead to tension on already compromised hair. Many hair toppers are glued onto hair or the remaining hair is shaven and glued directly on the scalp. Why would any woman want to shave their hair or glue a hair topper to their scalp? The goal is that you can recover from hair loss and preserve your remaining hair. Additionally, there may be new advancements in medications and treatments for hair loss, therefore keeping your hair healthy is paramount.
What Are Hair Toppers Made of?
Our hair topper base is made of a fine mesh that allows the scalp to breathe, there is no bulky PU (polyurethane), and therefore the hair topper lays flat. The micro-mesh allows for water to gently seep into the scalp when washing. We stock a variety of hair toppers and mesh integration hair systems for same-day application. There are a variety of cap constructions to suit your hair needs. We will determine this at your free consultation.
The hair toppers are made of virgin (one-donor) hair, which is very durable. The texture has a subtle wave and is meant to blend seamlessly into one's natural hair. A hair topper is not a wig and the size should cover the circumference of the top of the head. The material is pliable, it will naturally form on the scalp, and with every passing day, the hair toppers mold in place.
Can you add clips to a hair topper?
We are able to add clips if a client prefers to take the topper on and off. We rotate the flexible clips every few months to avoid tension from the clips staying in the same area of the hair.
Most clients' hair toppers last over one year with proper home care. The maintenance is simple; every 3 to 6 weeks the topper is removed washed and treated, our client's hair is washed and then the toppers are affixed. We welcome in-between visits for quick touch-ups.
It is recommended to not wash hair upside down since this will cause the topper to loosen from water tension. Sleeping with a silk scarf helps to prevent friction and will keep the hair topper in place. We recommend wearing a scarf when wearing a helmet of any kind, but most of our clients enjoy a very active lifestyle.

How to Put On, Style, and Care for Your Hair Topper
Putting on a hair topper may seem daunting at first, but with practice, it becomes a straightforward process. Start by ensuring your natural hair is clean and dry. Gently position the topper over your head, aligning it with your natural hairline. Secure the topper using clips or tape as preferred, ensuring a comfortable fit that feels secure without causing tension.
Once in place, you can style the topper just like your natural hair. Use light styling products to avoid weighing it down, and always opt for gentle techniques to maintain its integrity. Regular care is essential for preserving the natural look of your topper, so consider scheduling routine maintenance appointments to keep it looking its best.
How to Curl Your Topper
Curling your hair topper can enhance its versatility and allow for a variety of stunning styles. To curl your topper, start by ensuring it is clean and dry. Use a heat protectant spray to shield the hair from damage. Section the hair into manageable parts and use a curling iron or wand to create curls, holding each section for a few seconds before releasing.
For a more natural look, consider alternating the direction of the curls. After curling, allow the hair to cool before gently running your fingers through the curls for a soft, tousled finish. Remember to use only low to medium heat settings to preserve the quality of the hair. With proper care and styling, your topper can maintain its beautiful curls for an extended period.
How to Wash Your Hair Topper
Washing your hair topper is crucial for maintaining its natural look and longevity. To wash your topper, start by filling a basin with lukewarm water and adding a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo. Submerge the topper gently, avoiding any harsh scrubbing or twisting motions that could cause tangling. Allow it to soak for a few minutes, then rinse thoroughly under cool water to remove any product buildup.
Once rinsed, apply a conditioner specifically designed for hair toppers, focusing on the ends. Let the conditioner sit for a few minutes before rinsing again. To dry your topper, gently pat it with a soft towel and lay it flat on a drying rack. Avoid using heat sources to dry the topper, as this can damage the hair fibers. With proper washing techniques, your topper will continue to look vibrant and natural.
How to Blow Dry Your Topper
Blow drying your hair topper can add volume and style, but it's essential to do so carefully to avoid heat damage. Start by towel drying your topper to remove excess moisture. Apply a heat protectant spray to shield the hair from the heat of the blow dryer.
Using a round brush, begin blow-drying the hair in sections, lifting at the roots to create volume. Keep the blow dryer at a safe distance to prevent overheating the hair fibers. If you prefer a straight look, use a paddle brush while blow drying. For added style, consider curling the ends slightly for a more polished finish. Regular blow drying, when done correctly, can enhance the appearance of your topper while ensuring its longevity.
