Mommy Hair Makeover In Boston

Pregnancy and childbirth can take a physical and emotional toll on us, first line of action is to take some much-needed time to pamper yourself. Most new moms love to address their hair after pregnancy especially if they decided not to color during it. Most new moms visit us a week after childbirth, it is so rewarding to tend to their hair by creating a new color, cut, style and even hair extensions. If a new mom can not find a sitter, we welcome newborns and have many moms to help tend to them.

What we recommend after pregnancy:

Due to hormonal changes, your hair may shed after giving birth, this is perfectly normal and happens to many. It is best to keep taking your prenatal vitamins (consult with your doctor), When our body is in reproductive mode, our hair benefits from increased blood flow. This is the perfect time to massage your head to help increase blood flow. You can do this on your own, or make a head massage part of a massage treatment. A scalp treatment is another way to help increase blood circulation to hair follicles.

I know this is logical, especially if you are breastfeeding, but please do not rush to lose weight right after pregnancy. Rapid weight loss is not the best for your internal organs but may lead to hair loss. Your body has gone through a lot during pregnancy, be kind to yourself.

Scalp Massage:

The entire head is sectioned, and we massage natural hair oil into the scalp. A scalp massage can last up to one hour and will not only benefit hair circulation but combat dry scalp.

New Color Selection:

After I gave birth, I was hormonally challenged and decided to bleach my entire head. I changed my highlighted hair to platinum blonde. Oh my, it was not flattering on me, and I felt less like myself than ever!

There is nothing wrong with color changes, but it is best to wait a few months after delivery.  Touch up your roots, and take a breath. enjoy your time with your newborn, your new look will be achieved, but drastic changes too soon made lead to damage. I recommend a balayage hair color since there is no need to touch up your color often.

Hair Extensions:

The same advice applies here as with new hair color. It is best to wait a few months before applying for hair extensions, especially if your hair sheds after childbirth.

Hair Toppers:

Childbirth can trigger Trichotillomania, pulling behavior, we can address your issues immediately. In my opinion, hair loss is important to tackle before it worsens. We welcome mom's to visit us for a free and private consultation. Our goal is to approach the hair loss situation with compassion and understanding. If people only knew how common hair loss is, they may feel better.

We totally understand the challenges of being a new mom, and we will help you with every stage of self-improvement. Our best advice is to let us help with your hair color, cut and styling, making no immediate drastic hair changes.
